Apply paint

Mohawk lacquer spray cans

Now is the time we start getting stinky. Paint fumes are no joke. Get yourself a good respirator. Your N95 mask is not going to protect you.

First, a preview of the components we're going to use on the body. Everything seems to fit okay.

I used Aquacoat pore filler to smooth out the body. I was too heavy with the sanding afterward and reduced its effectiveness.

Next I applied Mohawk sanding sealer. Then came the fun part. Applying paint. I was shooting for a silverburst type of design. Silver with a a black umbra around the outer portion.

When painting, it's always a good idea to paint some scrap to see what you're working with.

Next, I used some scrap wood to make a painting handle. This will allow me to hand the guitar from some rope and turn it as needed to spray.

Here we go with the underlying silver. The following is after 3 or 4 applications of silver.

Notice the grain still showing through. I believe this is due to the lack of/removal of the pore filler.

Next up is the black.
